Riding Lessons
Serenity Equestrian is Southern Alberta’s premier Natural Horsemanship destination. We offer comprehensive riding lessons, conveniently located 1 mile north of Lethbridge on Hwy 25.
Serenity has a fun and meaningful levels program that teaches our riders to bond with, care for and ride horses in a safe and professional environment through our Riding Horsemanship Lessons and our Summer Horsemanship Camp. Each level builds on the previous one allowing you to advance at your own pace.
Our 90-minute lessons, which occur 3 times a month, are only $285.00

Level 1
Students will learn to:
- Halter and catch their horse
- Saddle their horse alone
- Learn the seven games horses play with each other
- Move hind quarters
- Move front quarters
- Circle the horse 2 laps
- Mount the horse
- Dismount safely
- Emergency dismount
- Show lateral flexion
Level 1
Students will learn to:
- Halter and catch their horse
- Saddle their horse alone
- Learn the seven games horses play with each other
- Move hind quarters
- Circle the horse 2 laps
- Mount the horse
- Dismount safely
- Emergency dismount
- Show lateral flexion
- Move front quarters

Level 2
- Back your horse straight
- Send your horse over a jump
- Trot your horse in circles around you
- Change directions and maintain gait
- Play with obstacles safely
- Drive your horse sideways
- Transition from walk to trot while maintaining a pattern
- Ride confidently in a closed field with obstacles
- Saddle your horse while its ground tied
LIBERTY
- Play the seven games with nothing on your horses head
RIDING
- Saddle your horse while ground tied
- Walk and trot a figure 8 on a casual rein
- Transition from walk to trot while maintaining a pattern
- Ride confidently in a closed field with obstacles
Level 2
GROUND TRAINING
- Can you back your horse straight
- Send your horse over a jump
- Have your horse trot in circles around you
- Have your horse change direction and maintain gait
- Draw your horse to you
- Drive your horse sideways
- Play with obstacles safely
- Play the seven games with nothing on your horses head
RIDING
- Saddle your horse while ground tied
- Walk and trot a figure 8 on a casual rein
- Transition from walk to trot while maintaining a pattern
- Ride confidently in a closed field with obstacles
Level 3
Level 3 is refining what you have been working on in levels 1 and 2:
GROUND TRAINING
- Load a horse in the trailer
- Work with a horse on a 22 foot line
- Jump a horse over barrels
- Weave thru cones.
- Figure 8
- Lead the horse by the back legs
- Drive with two reigns from behind
LIBERTY
Subtle communication and direction while the horse is loose
